Laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (LDI MS)-based metabolic analysis holds great potential for clinical applications in terms of high throughput, rapid signal readout, and minimal sample preparation. Herein, various categories nanomaterials their diagnostic detecting metabolites biological fluids by LDI MS are summarized.
